General School Information

Lake Charles College Prep is a tuition-free, public school offering quality education and character formation to students in grades 9-12.

On July 1, 2018, LCCP and McNeese State University entered into an educational partnership for curriculum development and staff enrichment. In addition to the partnership with McNeese, LCCP is also working with Talent Development Secondary [an affiliate of John Hopkins University] for program and cultural transformation.

LCCP began in 2014 and celebrated its first Graduation in May, 2018 as 79 of 82 Seniors graduated.

Students entering 9th grade in August, 2018 will be the first class to benefit from our new FRESHMAN ACADEMY. Recognizing the unique needs of 9th grade students, freshmen will be taught by staff trained to focus on the transition from junior high school to high school.

We are the trailblazers — we are going where no one else has gone.  We invite you to become a part of our school community.

Programs and Services

  • Personalized Learning Plans – Assessments will be performed periodically to determine how your child will learn best. Learning styles will be established to tailor lesson plans to meet the needs of each student.
  • Access to JCampus’ Student Progress Center – Parents will be given access to their children’s personal information through a password-protected computer-based system that allows them to monitor their progress. Parents will be able to monitor test scores, homework and attendance on a daily basis.
  • Parent Involvement – We know that children enjoy greater success in school when the adults they admire most take an interest in their education. Our students’ parents are required to commit to volunteer hours each year for the school. These hours foster closer relationships and ensure a more secure learning environment.
  • Uniforms – A school uniform policy is enforced. School uniforms must be purchased exclusively from a Lake Charles College Prep approved vendor only. School uniforms instill a sense of pride in the school as well as each child’s individual appearance. Uniforms allow students to focus on their education instead of designer labels and fashion trends.
